Reasons to be cheerful 2
6th August 2012
The sun was beautiful tonight through the windows at the back of the house. Fed the fish then went upstairs and just drank it in. The bamboo in Clare’s pot looked fabulous, the rays slanting down.
Didn’t want to get up this morning but managed to slough off the idea of a duvet day and made it in. Picked up my prescription at Boots first thing. Queued outside with a few others for it to open, then got to work.
I had made a list on Saturday for things to do in the garden, starting by the dining room window. 10 things on the list which I sorted out into those things that Brian and Julie will do, (some of which only if I ask them nicely and with notice). Like cleaning the soffits. The other 5 things were for me to do, and as I went out with my wet sponge to clean the kitchen window I realised two things. Firstly that I could open the window and clean the inside from the outside, which would mean I can clean the top window inside from outside, the main difference other than the Okey Cokey being that the washing machine is not in the way when done from the outside. Secondly that as the window cleaners clean the outside of the windows I don’t need to clean the other kitchen window and I can cross the dining room window off my list too. Suddenly I can tick a bogoff! No shake it all about! Bonus.
Brian and Julie come on Wednesday after their holiday. Happy days.
4th August 2012
Had a lie in this morning, and I didn’t get dressed till 6pm!
The weather was lovely when I got up and one of the first jobs I did today was to water the garden. Something has eaten Charlie Dimmock. I bought 4 dark purple salvia, called Charlie Dimmock, from Reuben Shaw a couple of weeks ago when I was planting up the apple tree bed, and the one closest to the hedge has been completely munched, and the others aren’t faring much better either.
Glorious day for pottering. My back hasn’t been too bad today so I sorted out the area near the microwave – the amount of cat hair and a couple of dead spiders – dreadful! Took a load of pictures of the garden, I really love it at the moment, the hard work that Brian and Julie are putting in is really paying off and it’s a pleasure to sit feeding the fish and feeling the sun on your shoulders.
Later on it’s rained, so I had to put the mats from the bedroom, which I washed, on the radiator – yes, we have the heating on and it’s August.
Jessica Ennis has just won the Gold Medal in the Heptathlon at the London Olympics. Mo Farah is about to race. And I’ve just found a cold bottle of cider in the fridge that I didn’t know was there. Bonus.
